From Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera, and Sunset Boulevard, English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has produced and written several significant Broadway productions. But one of his most famous is Cats. With the touching hit song 'Memory', and a mystical set inspired by colour, costumes and dancing, Cats is a sparkling song and dance extravaganza not to be missed. Whether it's your first time, or you're viewing Cats for the fifth time, there is something magical and new about every performance. Cats first opened in London in May 1981 and holds the record of the longest-running musical in West End history, having played for 21 years. Cats has also played for 18 years on Broadway and has been presented in more than 26 countries, in about 300 cities, and in 10 languages.

One of the world's greatest dance companies is coming to Brisbane. Presenting an exclusive season of Rudolf Nureyev's La Bayadere, The Paris Opera Ballet will perform in at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre with 100 of its dancers performing alongside The Queensland Orchestra. This was the last work choreographed by Rudolph during his time as the company's artistic director. La Bayadere literally translates to 'The Temple Dancer' and tells the story of the Bayadere Nikiya and the warrior Solor who have sworn eternal fidelity to one another. The high Brahmin is also in love with Nikiya. The consequent difficulties of these relationships play out with some of the most beautiful dancing imaginable. The Paris Opera Ballet's visit to Brisbane not only provides a wonderful show, but it's also testament to Brisbane's growth as a cultural force in Australia.
